Picking to pickle a pepper
Ahhh yes. It's that time of the night. 2.04 a.m on a Monday morning and I'm trying to produce more stuff for tomorrow, but It just won't come to me. You know how it is, fellow archinerds... the project is at a stale point, u need more info, more inspiration, more insight.... and possibly a new brain altogether, to make it feel like it's going somewere.
So do all things that drag on too long become stale? Last relationship....best before April 2005. hah... hah. I guess that's why they come up with preservatives. Everything needs to be preserved to last. I think I'm stating the obvious, but it's 2.07 and I'm just dishing out stuff here. It's that simple really... if you care for something enough, u'll take the effort to preserve it.
The key word here is effort, isn't it....
Yesterday was interesting. I woke up sick, but I didn't want to miss Martin's birthday thing. So I went, and it was all good. I'm sure I missed the best part by leaving earlier but heck, colds are annoying in that way. Came back for some recovery rest, but later on decided that being sick in bed was not as much fun as being sick out of bed so ended up catching a cab to another friend, Karen,'s birthday thing and staying till 3a.m, by which I was sprawled on the ground, high on warm water and paracetamol, tossing in poker chips and laughing over Sebastian from Little Britain. It was a bizarre night, and I don't think it helped my cold much but having made the impromptu decision to change out of my PJs and hail a cab at 11p.m changed the night from forgettable to worth-blogging-about.
Hold on, wasn't today's topic 'preservation'? I can think of a handful of people and friendships that I've neglected to preserve the past half year or so. Close friends who are geographically distant especially. I guess we always assure ourselves, optimistically, that we'll just pick up where we've left off. True as that may be, if my preservation theory is right... if I don't make some sort of effort to 'pick up the vinegar' soon, I might be faced with some pretty nasty mould before I know it...
So the babbling bubble says, go pickle your plums and may they last till u're an old and shrivelled prune yourself...
