The longest post ever

My words like silent raindrops fell, and echoed in the well of silence. - Simon and Garfunkel, The Sound Of Silence

This will be about the longest post everrrrrrr.....

It's been nearly a month since I last posted something. I will now blog about points of interest within those 3 1/2 months:

Point of interest no.1 : The gig at Balmoral Beach

The Easties were having a bit of a chocolate fix at Max Brenners after a screwed up design session that Monday when I got the phonecall...

" Hi Lin, my name is John, I heard that you tutor and play the violin. I have a huge favour to ask of you. I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend, this Saturday at Balmoral Beach, and I would love for you to come and play the violin while I do it...."
'Why would he pick me to play, of all people... (i thought..), so I asked...'
"Well you see, her name is LynLee too...."
'fine, it's not because you heard I was good....(i thought..)'
"Well, just consider it...and name your price. It will mean a lot to me."
'What a strange request. But there's good money involved.....(i thought)'

I ended up doing it. (Vince came for support and security)
We met at around 6.00 at Balmoral Beach. John was a nice-looking fellow in his thirties, clean cut, a bit overweight with a friendly smile, cold hands (probably from last minute jitters) and a firm hand shake.
The plan was that I stand underneath the huge tree overlooking the sea and start playing when they approach the tree at about 7p.m.... he would lead her over to me, get on his knees and propose. It was a funny night. Nearing 7, as soon as I saw 2 silhouettes of a man and woman approaching the tree, I would start playing...only to find it was the wrong couple and then abruptly stop when they came closer and turn my back on them so they would shoo.
When It WAS finally them, I was playing 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' and It all happened... as planned. We ended up drinking champaign by the beach, having a bit of a laugh together... Lyn was ecstatic, constantly going on and on to me about how thrilled she was, as if I was a long lost friend of hers.
I'm glad she didn't say 'no'. I didn't have any sad music planned out....
I've been invited to play for the wedding... :)

On a side note, I was looking through love songs before the gig and I must say, one of my favourite love songs of all time is the Eagles' 'Love will keep us alive'. The purity of the words.... 'when we're hungry.... love will keep us alive.' Maybe I've been mushed up by too many weddings and proposals lately, but beautiful stuff like that just makes you a believer.

Point of interest no.2 : The weird dream 2 nights ago
I was in a game and if you lost the game, you would have to die.
There were familiar faces around, there was an old shack... It was a cat and mouse chase and there was a lot of whipping involved. I remember losing 3 times and wondering when I woke up why I wasn't dead yet.... Hit me all you Fruedians....

Point of interest no.3 : Red hair
I currently have a massive red streak on the right side of my head. My first reaction when I saw it in the hairdresser's mirror was "Shit."
"You don't like it....?"
Stupid woman, is 'shit' ever a positive reaction?
Having said that, after the blow dry and toning, it looked pretty funky and I'm starting to dig it more and more...

Point of interest no.4: Random activities
-going to watch Verdi's 'Rigoletto' with V at the Opera House. It was funky, except for the miscasting of the Duke who was suppose to be a gorgeous, hunky bloke, but was played by a HUGE, hairy fellow that had a gorgeous voice but looked like a cross between Pavarotti and an overweight gorilla.
- getting thrashed at Roger's, the disco room, ('OOOoooOhhh.... SWeeEEeEt!'), bringing out Roger's soft side for monkeys.
-snorkelling at Clovelly this weekend.
-getting duckies (a pair of 2's in the hand) 3 times during a poker tournament.

Happy Birthday Llama, Cicak, Wombat!! 3 out of my 4 favourite animal friends from Pg.

And then there's work...... which pretty much fills up the spaces in between....

It's funny coz when I saw Olivia (tutor) on Monday... I went in with a model which had swirley ramps and roads with a huge pole sticking out from the centre.... and she asked 'what's the pole for?' "Structure" i said.... "I think it helps to have a big long thingi that acts as a core, supporting the womb of the building." Her retort was 'That's a pretty big long thingi to have....'

I found that quite amusing...

So there you have it.... the longest post everrrrrr....

Baja!
It was cool your doing that violin playing on the beach. I would have done something mischevious like play "ding dong the witch is dead" or "pop goes the weasel" as they were approaching instead! Don't diss duckies, they aren't that bad. Preflop they are technically better than big slick! Forgot to tell you in my email that I didn't send you a postcard but have got you some pressies from Vegas. Anyway go and watch An Inconvenient Truth. Despite having to put up with Al Gore for ninety minutes it is a really good film. Makes you wonder if the world would have been a much better place today if he had won.....?

Hi KOKI, Interesting site!!

Viva Las Vegas!
I do intend to watch An Inconvenient Truth, although political movies aren't really my thing, it does sound very interesting!!
(how can I underestimate duckies??! I got beaten heads up with them twice to get kicked out of a tourny!!! I just find them pretty useless when there's still a full table- beginning of the comp!)

Dust. Anybody? No? High in fat, low in fat? Dust. Anybody? No? Dust. Anybody? No? Dust. Anybody? No? Dust. Anybody? No? Dust. Anybody? No? Dust. It's actually very low in fat. You can have as much dust as you like.
