Monkey business

Ho ho ho! Just a bit of a break from the blog trend to say...The latest 'King Kong' by Peter Jackson is nothing short of FANTASTIC!!! Well, i thought so anyway.... I know a lot of you haven't watched it so I'll refrain from saying much about it... but it's definitely a cinema worthy film...(so those in M'sia, splurge on that 3 ringgit more, rather than getting the fake DVD.) Whooooohoooo..... here's a bit of history for those who aren't familiar with the previous King Kongs. This one is largely based on the 1933 version. (only this time, they got the scale right....amongst other things. I mean, how could they not, with a budget of $207m as opposed to $650 000 in 1933)....
Hooo hoooo..... I liked it. I really did. It was a lot of fun. Also a good mix of tender mush moments and RARGHHHH moments. 3 hours of gripping action. This is what I call epic-ism! Makes Narnia seem even more novicy! Wheee....I'm making up all these new words! GO watch.

Dearest Monkey,
I don't believe I ever uttered the words "it was a really good movie" regarding Narnia. I loved the book (kid's version, a long time ago), I loved the old movie, (cartoon version) and I loved the storyline. I also loved the characters and the whole idea of a land behind a wardrobe. The reason as to why I said that I was disappointed with the current make of this story is...there was so much more potential to make it more special. And more meaningful. No, it wasn't crap. I watched 'A Sound Of Thunder' yesterday. Now THAT....was CRAP. Narnia was fascinating, but let's just say it didn't meet up to my expectations.... ;)
Baja! Have just seen Kong and I agree, it is a great film. Although the action bits are awesome, creating enough Wow factor, the thing that sets the film aside for me is the interaction between Kong and Ann Darrow. The slow buildup of the relationship is so tangible and well done. If Andy Serkis doesn't get an oscar then the Academy are full of ****heads. By the way I would go as far as to say Narnia is crap. Why couldn't they have got Jackson or Alfonso CuarĂ³n to do it thereby injecting some style and depth into the film? At least anyone but that saccharine obsessed Disney puppet!!!
PS. Your suggestion of Tim Burton is cool as well.
